Volpara Solutions' VolparaEnterprise Live! on display at RSNA
CHICAGO — Volpara Solutions launched two new products as part of its VolparaEnterprise platform at the RSNA annual meeting.
"If you're in a little private practice somewhere, you think you're doing good work, but how do you know if you have no reference point?," Julian Marshall, chief marketing officer at Volpara, asked HCB News. "We have the data in the cloud so we can tell you how the ninetieth percentile person [in your facility] performs, and then you can compare to see how you're doing against that person."
The VolparaEnterprise Live! Is a mammography and tomosynthesis quality control device that provides the technologist with real-time feedback. If the patient positioning, dose or compression pressure are inadequate, it lights up to alert the technologist.
"If you don't have something like this, the technologist accepts the images and the patient goes home but then the doctor calls them back because they need a better image," said Marshall. "That's very expensive and there is no reimbursement for that call-back. If we can correct a problem before the patient leaves the facility we have saved a lot of time, effort and worry."
Volpara plans to start commercially shipping VolparaEnterprise Live! in midsummer.
The VolparaRisk software, also showcased at RSNA, helps to identify women who may be at higher risk of developing breast cancer regardless of family history and may benefit from a full risk assessment. It ranks each mammogram based on the magnitude of breast density relative to the woman's age and breast size.
"VolparaRisk produces a list of those women who would have fallen through the net if they were only asked the [standard] questions," said Marshall. "They also can be invited to risk assessment to see if they might be at high risk."
