Edmedical - Very High-Risk Company

October 26, 2018 01:56

For me, coming here to discuss another company is a last resort. Unfortunately I feel the need to publically inform everyone in the industry about Alain Hautstone of Edmedical, located in Belgium.

I won't go so far as to call the man a liar or crook, but at this point you can't get much closer.

I ordered a new x-ray tube being offered by Mr. Hautstone back in early April 2018. I was told the tube would be ready for delivery within 15 days. Now it's October 2018 and I still have no tube.

Over the course of communications, Alain has admitted to making various mistakes in the ordering process that he claimed caused delays. He further told me that their office had been closed for an entire month for "holiday." He seems to be constantly away from the office and uses this as an excuse for not answering messages. Whenever he seems to have returned, there is still no tube to be delivered. At least a couple of times he has updated me with promises that the tube is almost ready for pickup, only for nothing to happen. It has been a back-and-forth cycle, and now he does not answer emails, phone calls, or text messages at all. I have made every effort to contact him and resolve this in a civilized manner. It seems he is refusing those gestures.

Almost 1 month ago he responded to one text message asking for my bank info so that he could send my refund, because he still didn't have the tube. I sent that information, and now Alain refuses to respond and has yet to send the refund. He refuses to respond to my numerous attempts to contact him since.

Now, I should qualify that I was able to do a few successful deals with Alain in years past. They were not smooth, and delivery has always been extremely late. He has always promised delivery within about a 1-2 weeks timeframe, only for it to be more like 2 months. But this is different. Now over 6 months have passed, and Alain has not taken appropriate action to resolve the situation.

Hopefully, following this post and all my recent attempts to contact Alain, he will finally do the right thing and either deliver the tube or issue the full refund immediately. If that happens, I will gladly update the forum with the outcome.

Although Alain has been in the industry for many years it seems recently he has turned to being a dishonest person and company. Similar to you Wayne, Alain has been holding my money also since April 2018 only to make excuse after excuse (last communication in September 2018) and not delivering on his promises to supply the tubes or refunds. Yes the 1 month holiday was a great excuse (Obviously he was on holiday and spending our money that he stole).
As I too hope to find a civilized solution to our deal it seems Alain is in some big financial trouble without a short term solution.
We are all humans and makes mistakes but what defines us is how we communicate to find the best and fairest solution. Unfortunately Alain and ED Medical seem to be "taking the money and running"
I do know Alain was somewhat of a honest and good supplier in the past and hoping he can return to those same habits soon. It would be nice to have better communication with some solutions as well.
Be very careful doing business with Alain and his company these days....

Wayne and Avner, I appreciate you came out and posted about this individual, his company and his practices. My experience with Alain Hautstone of ED Medical in Belgium goes back to July 2015. We ordered a tube and transferred funds. The tube was not available to ship, we cancelled the order but did not get the funds back. Alain stated he could not cancel the order with Siemens, but he never shipped the tube to and never produced an evidence of tube purchased.

One would ask why we engaged with him without due diligence. However, I checked with other strong companies in the industry prior sending the funds and they checked Alain ok back then. Unfortunately, I learnt that he had tricked them later on the same way. I hope they come up here and post as well.

Alain has used the funds (155,000 EUR) he received in July 2015 without a permission. Although he returned portion of the amount in multiple small payments, today over 3 years later, he still owes over 20,000 EUR. His last payment was in December 2017 (a year ago). I could not get a hold of him recently at all. I emailed, left voicemails and text messages. He is hiding. Beware.

I should have posted about Alain practices much earlier, I admit. It appears Alain runs his operation on vendor financing aka Ponzi scheme where he promises to deliver a product. He receives new funding which he uses to cover his old purchases, returns and past dues. His new clients who still trust him extends his existence of this scheme. I warn you not to engage in a business with him if you need to pay upfront.

On one hand, I am still hopeful Alain corrects his situation and returns the rest of the money after 3 years, on the other hand, my hopes are vanishing. I emailed Alain a few time before I posted this message to give him a chance to rectify the situation and return the funds. I would love to update this forum and everybody reading it of Alain’s corrective action by if the funds are retuned by Christmas 2018.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Jozef. There is clearly a pattern with Edmedical. As for due diligence, it's a tricky matter. When I first dealt with them, I knew others who had transacted successfully. Then I had a few deals that went okay (as described in my post above). They were always late, but we did eventually get the product. Now, however, Alain/Edmedical seems to be taking everybody's money and running. It's very disturbing.

Wayne, Avner, and Jozef I really appreciate your forum. We'd never transactioned with Alain but we exchange numerous emails over the course of 2 years. I came literally 1 click away making the transfer for the bundle purchase of six new Dura tubes last year. I got a little concern on his guarantees to deliver on time, specially since I was going to use my customer funds. I am so glad that I never sent the funds and eventually after several emails from ED medical pressing us for payment, I just stopped all communication.

Thank you again gentlemen!!!
