Lexington Regional Health Center, in Nebraska, has gotten the green light from its board to remodel its entire radiology department for an estimated sum of $1.25 million to $1.75 million.

The initial proposal was primarily focused on revamping its X-ray rooms, but C-suite executives determined that the entire department needed an upgrade to accommodate its growing inventory of equipment and improve its operational efficiency, reported the Lexington Clipper-Herald.

Architectural fees are expected to cost $186,600. Interim CEO and chief financial officer Wade Eschenbrenner says that he and staff leaders are already consulting with different firms about the remodeling project and how they want it to align with the hospital’s strategic objectives.

They also told the board that they are looking for a new CEO and have been reaching out to recruitment firms to explore potential partnerships. They asked the board to choose a firm from a binder of options they presented. Once that is completed, the hospital can then start screening potential candidates for the role.

The search for a new CEO comes just a month after the board voted 3-2 to terminate chief executive officer Leslie March. It originally evaluated her leadership back in August, praising her advocacy for the hospital and the new emergency room constructed under her leadership, but expressed concern about IT issues facing LRHC, including a multiday system crash in November 2022. They also listed a lack of communication, a $200,000 expenditure for a network switch that was not included in the capital budget, and an alleged failure to disclose a six-figure settlement until after the fact as reasons for doubting her efficiency as CEO, reported KGFW.
