Pleasanton, California-based Philips Healthcare Informatics, a division of Royal Philips, has won a DoD contract worth as much as $400 million for digital imaging network picture archiving communications system products and maintenance, the Defense Department announced September 13.

The firm won the deal in a field of 10 competitors, according to the agency statement.

The contract is for five years with a single option for another five years, and will see work done in California, as well as other locations in and out of the continental U.S., with all work due to be finished by Sept. 12, 2024.

Customers will include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, as well as federal civilian agencies.

In June, Philips released its Future Health Index (FHI) 2019 report, “Transforming healthcare experiences: Exploring the impact of digital health technology on healthcare professionals and patients,” which looked at the shift from volume-based to value-based care and the effort to create a more sustainable health systems worldwide.

The annual report, now in its fourth year, focused on the role of digital health technology and found that while “the majority of individuals” want access to their digital health records and are ready to share them with healthcare professions, “insufficient data sharing” is still a challenge at present.
