El Segundo, CA (February 20, 2018) – Radiology Partners, (RP), the largest physician-led and physician-owned radiology practice in the U.S., today announced the addition of Jeffrey Immelt to its board of directors. Immelt joins a board of seven other recognized leaders representing multiple areas of expertise in healthcare.

“We are thrilled that Jeff has joined our board. In addition to his experience leading one of the largest and most admired companies in the world, Jeff brings extensive healthcare experience, broad relationships within the healthcare industry and a passion for technology and innovation,” said Rich Whitney, Radiology Partners’ chairman and CEO. “Furthermore, few companies are as accomplished in leadership development as GE, and we aspire to be similarly recognized in developing physician leaders.”

Immelt is best known for his career at GE (NYSE: GE), which spanned over three decades. He was most recently the chairman and CEO of GE, having served in that role for 16 years before retiring in 2017. As CEO, Immelt led a global organization of more than 300,000 employees in over 170 countries. Immelt played an integral role in the transformation of the company, emphasizing technology and advancing digitization across industries. He also served as president and CEO of GE Medical Systems (now GE Healthcare), a business he helped grow to an almost $20 billion leader in imaging and information technology, harnessing data and analytics across hardware, software and biotech. Most recently, Immelt was appointed chairman of the Board of Directors of athenahealth.

“As healthcare continues to leverage technology – including machine learning and artificial intelligence – to advance care, Radiology Partners is uniquely positioned to thrive over the long term,” said Immelt. “I was attracted by RP’s single-specialty focus, dedication to delivering innovative value-based care, forward-thinking investments in technology and its commitment to developing and engaging outstanding physician leaders. I’m looking forward to serving alongside RP’s impressive board and helping guide this talented team of radiology leaders seeking to have an important impact on their field and the healthcare system overall.”

In addition to Immelt and Whitney, the following healthcare leaders serve on RP’s Board of Directors:

William R. Brody, MD, PhD: A radiologist and renowned academic, clinical and entrepreneurial healthcare leader; former president of Johns Hopkins University; chairman emeritus and former president of the Salk Institute; previously served on the Board of Directors of IBM, Novartis, Medtronic and Stanford University Health Care; Radiological Society of North America Gold Medal award winner.
