HealthGrid and Iatric Systems Inc. announced a partnership on Tuesday to make the CareNotify enterprise and mobile patient engagement solution available to hospitals with MEDITECH EHR technology.
Ephraim McDowell Health, a 222-bed hospital in Kentucky, will be the first to benefit from this agreement.
"We recognize that some practices, hospitals and health systems have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on aging EHR infrastructures," Raj Toleti, CEO of HealthGrid, told HCB News. "Partnerships like this one are allowing these customers to extend the life of their investment by leveraging the data that exists in those systems to meet the quality measures that have been established by new value-based care initiatives."
Iatric Systems will be responsible for integrating HealthGrid's CareNotify and the hospital's EHR system. The integrated solution will allow clinicians to deliver appointment reminders, care summaries, patient education, secure messaging, mobile check-in and point-of-care surveys.
"We make it easy for our customers to attest for Meaningful Use on the measures that most providers find hardest to achieve – the patient facing measures," said Toleti. "These measures are often harder to attain as they require action from the patient on topics such as understanding of their personalized patient education and care plan, and overall satisfaction."
He explained that other systems on the market expect patients to know the precise time to log in to the portal to access vital information — as a result adoption rates are low. CareNotify allows physicians to communicate directly with patients via their mobile devices.
Hospitals and health systems that are using any version of MEDITECH's EHR technology can now be assured that they will meet value-based care initiatives without having to make any replacements.
