Linear Ultrasound Endoscope
PENTAX Medical Company is now selling its Slim Linear Ultrasound Endoscope on the U.S. market.
The device is the company’s slimmest linear GI echoendoscope, and consists of a slim 2.8mm insertion tube, a small distal end and a short bending section to help physicians examine parts of the body that are difficult to find and reach. It combines features of transducer design and ultrasound technology.
“As a result of the slim 2.8mm insertion tube, and shorter rigid distal portion and bending section, the Slim Linear facilitates easier intubation, maneuverability and advancement to the descending duodenum when compared to our standard-width Linear EUS Endoscope,” product marketing manager Emily Goodwin told HCB News. “In addition, the elevator has been redesigned to allow for more precise control and positioning of the EUS-FNA needle.”

The endoscope is used in endoscopic ultrasound procedures, which are used for identifying and applying therapeutic treatments to problems in the pancreaticobiliary system. The device is also used for examining the digestive tract.
It collects ultrasound images and uses fine needle aspiration to find and collect biopsy samples for ensuring better diagnosis and treatment for a variety of diseases.
“It can be used in the assessment of, and/or treatment of, several conditions, including cystic lesions, pancreatitis, and pancreatic adenocarcinomas,” Goodwin said.
The device can be used in both therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
