DOTmed: What is your function in your new position?
On January 1, 2012 Luke Watson and myself, Shannon Moore, purchased STAT Biomedical, Inc. For the past 12 years, Luke and I have been employed by SPBS, Inc., a sales/service company. At the end of 2011, SPBS decided they wanted to go back to a service company only and offered us STAT Biomedical to purchase. Luke and I bought STAT and are now partners in the business. Luke is the Director of Operations and I am the Director of Sales and Marketing.
DOTmed: Tell us about your new responsibilities.
STAT Biomedical, Inc. specializes in the buying and selling of new pre-owned and reconditioned medical equipment. Our specialty areas are surgery/recovery equipment, such as OR tables and lights, endoscopy and anesthesia, patient monitoring and defibrillators.
DOTmed: Where did you previously work?
Our previous place of employment was with SPBS, Inc. Our responsibilities were to sell equipment and service contracts.
DOTmed: What are your goals in your new position?
Being a business owner is exciting, but also nerve racking at the same time.
We are based in West Texas so our territory is Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, for the most part, but we also have customers in other states that we drop ship product to.
DOTmed: Tell us a little bit about your personal life.
I have been married for 23 years and have two sons, 20 and 17. We do a fair amount of traveling for my 17 year old, he is a pitcher and hoping to get a D1 baseball scholarship.
Luke has been married for 5 years and just had a son, he will be one at the end of August. Luke also has a Nephew that lives with him and his wife, he is 10 years and also plays baseball with hopes for that to be in his future for some time as well.
